G RD repair [042219-043019]

OUTAGE UPDATE – April 30, 2019 – PID started the Price Ditch and MCID Stubb Ditch this morning.  It will take a few days to fill and adjust the Price Ditch and laterals and to set the checks to back up the water within the Price Ditch.  Please be patient.  PID’s weather station reports RAIN 1.15″/this week and still raining, 1.82″/month, 6.46″/2019 year – FYI.

On April 22 a garbage truck crushed the culvert at the intersection of the Price Ditch and G Rd.  For safety reasons and to assure continuous operation of the Price Ditch in the future, the Price Ditch has been shut off. Repairs are commencing. Mesa County Road Department has determined the road crossing is unsafe, therefor the culvert will be totally replaced. It is unknown at this time how long it will take to complete repairs. This is an extreme circumstance and we sorry for the inconvenience.   Thank you for your patience.  Stay tuned for further updates.

APRIL 25 – The construction crew has installed about half of the concrete culvert pipe necessary to complete the road crossing.  Unfortunately an XCEL gas line is in the way of the remaining installation.  XCEL Energy is on site and in the process of temporarily moving the gas line so the remaining culvert can be installed.  In the meantime, the construction crew is placing concrete forms in order to make a water-tight seal between the existing concrete box and the new pipe.

APRIL 26 – Today the concrete collar needed to connect the upstream concrete pipe inlet to the concrete structure was placed along with additional  backfill around the pipe.  By the end of today all but one or two joints of pipe will be in place.  The final joint must be cut in order to fit and will likely be placed on Saturday. Crews will continue to work through the weekend to place more backfill and form the concrete collar needed to connect the downstream outlet to the concrete structure on the south side of the road.  The plan is to make the final concrete placement on Monday and strip forms on Tuesday. Hopefully water will be flowing sometime on Tuesday.

APRIL 28 – The last joint of concrete pipe was cut and fit into place yesterday.  The concrete collar to tie into the south transition box will be formed today and concrete placed tomorrow (Monday).  The forms will be stripped Tuesday and water should be flowing by the end of the day on Tuesday.
