PIP&L – ON – Main St – [062920]

6/29/20- The Air Admittance valve finally seated properly and the water shut off. And Matt (Our new operations Manager) reminded me that maybe by fixing the leak at the bottom of the line the water pressure increased just enough to finally seal the ball in the Air Admittance valve. I’ll grant that is a solid possibility.  (Don’t you hate it when a smarty pants shows up AND he’s right!) Just kidding, Matt is resourceful and aware, two good attributes when you have complicated systems that need babying. We are “In Luck”.   I think Matt will do a great job for the PIP&L. Respectfully submitted, Patrick McAllister

06/27/20 – During the most recent irrigation water interruption we discovered another problem.   A long buried air  admittance valve ( a ball in a container so when pressure is up it seals, but when water is drained the ball drops and allows air in to drain the pipes.)
Anyway, it is stuck upen and is allowing water out onto Granada drive.
We need to replace it.   We will try to isolate it so that we do not have to shut the whole system down, but better to prepare for no water than be surprised.
This will affect water users from the highway south to the river and from both the Main St. Lateral and the Kluge Lateral.   This is especially important for Automated systems that might start pumps at night. The water will be off.
Respectfully submitted
